Important Scout / Leader Information During the COVID-19 Outbreak – Updated 4-2-21

Our next Troop meeting will be Thursday April 29 at Cokes Chapel Fellowship Hall at 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Chess MB, New Scout Skills and Communication MB with SM Mike Pollard. Summer Camp’s last payment is due tonight and permission slips and fees for the March 8th Kayaking MB day at Thunder on May 8th.

This Saturday is the Jacob Stolar Eagle Project Work Day at the Cokes Chapel Fellowship Yard! We need all hands on deck to complete an agenda of a number of different projects! There are conservation hours available see Mr. McCarthy. Jacob asks for those who can bring wheelbarrows please do along with spades. The day will be hot & sunny, the mosquitoes are out and if working on vine cutting area be aware of poison ivy! Long sleeves, hats, work gloves, safety glasses and sturdy shoes! Plus other items are on the permission slip that can be downloaded on the website project page! BE PREPARED!   

Mr. McCarthy needs five Senior Scouts in Full Uniform with MB sashes to represent Troop 2193 at the Golden Eagle Fund Raising Dinner on Tuesday May 18th at the Newnan Performing Arts Center off of Lower Fayetteville Road as Greeters and the opening Color Guard. See Ben Montequin or Mr. McCarthy if you are interested!   

REMEMBER! Merit badge selections for summer camp are completed! Please contact Mike Pollard if you have any question or concerns about your schedule! Please check your schedules there are changes that were made…

If you are attending camp remember you need a BSA Medical parts A,B, & C! So get your doctor or health care provider to make sure you are good to go by June 1st. Question call Katherine Hopkins, her contact info is farther down.

How are your Camp Card Sales? See Mickey Goodwin our Camp Card Coordinator to sign out cards for your son.  More info on the Troop Website and in Mickey’s e-mails! Please don’t sit on unsold cards…bring them in for others to sell!

FLASH! The Troop Court of Honor has been moved from May 20th to May 13th. Please turn in your family’s R.S.V.P. by May 6th. More info and the R.S.V.P. form are located on the troop Website to be down loaded! 

Our May 21-23 Overnight down at Thunder is to prepare our Campsite “Utica” for our 2021 Summer Camp week. There are a number of clean-up projects and upgrades for us to complete to make sure our campsite is at its best when we arrive in 3 weeks. We will all be sleeping in the platform tents so this will make overnight set up easier!   It will also include our annual troop swim test on Saturday afternoon…that is required for summer camp and other troop aquatic activities this summer! So our Scout Lifeguards we need your support here too!   

The Covid-19 Unit Activity Guidelines and Advancement Requirement options for MBs & Ranks have now been reinstated by BSA National as of 12-31-20 and are shown on the next page.  Scouts, Parents & Leaders working on any merit badge or rank should review these rank and merit badge requirements changes. 

New ASMs, REQUIRED Adult Scout Training 3 in 1 (IOLS) is now on the May 15-16 on the Council calendar! Check your registration with Council. You must have this training to maintain your ASM status with the troop. 

All Troop Merit Badge Counselors, please make sure that you are listed on the troop Scout-Book pages as a counselor and confirm that your list of merit badges you teach is complete. If not complete please see Kristin Montequin so we can create the paper work for you to be current. Local council is now in charge of keeping Scout-Book systems current and fixing any problems. If you are having difficulties logging on to Scout Book please contact Jim McCarthy for contact support.

Scouts keep moving ahead on your ranks and merit badges. Work with your counselors, our ASMs and the troop’s scout instructors on ways to help you complete your advancement goals. Many merit badges started this last summer should be completed before summer camp 2021! You can only get help if you ask! 

Please keep your Scout monthly dues current. Scouting dues do not stop just because your scout is not attending; you need to contact us by phone to opt out. Scouts more than 2 months behind will be restricted from attending troop overnight activities until paid up.

Every adult & Scout registered must have an updated BSA Medical Form A&B on file. This updating does not require a doctors signature, but it does give us important medical information when needed! See Kathrine Hopkins.  hopkinsmomof3@att.net

Do you need a Scoutmaster Conference, if so… 1st confirm that all your rank requirements are shown as completed in Scout Book with Mrs. Kristin Montequin. Then make verbal contact with SM Mike Pollard; evenings at 678-877-7555. afterwards call Kristin Montequin evenings at 410-570-8781 to set your (BOR) Board of Review. It is important to also keep your partial merit badge information updated in Scout-Book to help protect your hard work! 

Remember, this information page is to help all members of our troop to be able to receive the information you need so we all can be prepare. We are looking forward to when Scouting life returns to its new normal.

This will keep us all better PREPARED as we move forward.
